Children from the village are currently travelling to 20 different schools with some being three miles away. The primary school will be built in regenerating woodland near Haywards Heath, 3 miles away from the village, but will eventually move to new buildings in September 2010.
The Bolnore Group, which is made up of eight parents and two villagers, set wheels in motion by drawing up a proposal which got the go ahead by West Sussex County Council, the school will be a foundation school for 210 girls and boys aged four to 11 from September 2009.
Bolnore School Group Chairman Julia Bunting Thring said of their victory ‘We're incredibly excited to be given the opportunity to create a new school that will meet the needs of all our children, our families and our community. Our proposal is about partnership. It's about bringing together the best people to ensure that every child can flourish and reach their full potential.'
